Archer Names Six New Partners

Archer proudly announces that six attorneys have been named partners of the firm. Attorneys Michael J. Forino, Bruce M. Gorman Jr., Brian M. McGovern, Jennie A. Owens, Kate A. Sherlock, and Eric I. Yun have been promoted to partner.

“Archer welcomes a stellar group of attorneys to the firm’s partnership,” said Archer President Christopher Gibson. “It is a group that not only possesses excellent legal skills, but also a sharp focus on and dedication to client service. Our new partners have been an important part of the firm’s success, and I congratulate each of them on this accomplishment.”

Representing multiple offices and legal specialties, the new partners are:

Michael J. Forino – Michael focuses his practice in the area of business litigation in New Jersey and New York state and federal courts. He handles a variety of matters, including contract disputes, breaches of employment agreements and restrictive covenants, consumer fraud claims and shareholder disputes. Michael has represented clients in the areas of insurance coverage, professional malpractice and employment law, and also has extensive experience litigating landlord/tenant matters, both commercial and residential. Michael has successfully briefed and argued appellate matters before the Appellate Division of the New Jersey Superior Court.

Bruce M. Gorman Jr. – Bruce is a member of Archer’s Business Litigation Practice Group in the firm’s Princeton, Hackensack, and New York offices. Bruce handles all areas of general commercial civil litigation, including business disputes, contract disputes, construction law, business torts, breach of warranty, insurance law, election law, antitrust law, labor and employment, and white collar defense. Bruce has extensive experience in all areas of complex litigation, including motions practice, oral argument, e-discovery, depositions, trial practice, and appeals. Bruce represents clients in litigation matters in state and federal courts in New Jersey, New York, and Florida, and has arbitrated before the AAA and JAMS arbitrators. Bruce also assists clients in the drafting and review of film industry contracts.

Brian M. McGovern – Brian is a member of Archer’s Business Counseling Group specializing in corporate law, providing representation to both for-profit and non-profit entities and their principals in a variety of matters. Brian’s practice includes entity formation and dissolution, asset and stock transactions, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, joint ventures, corporate governance, financing, non-profit and charitable trust tax exemption, licensing, and public contracting. Brian provides advice to clients in both traditional and emerging industries. He is an active member of Archer’s multidisciplinary Cannabis Group, where he lends his corporate and regulatory experience to advise businesses of all sizes on the various rules and regulations involved in this new, and constantly evolving industry.

Jennie A. Owens – Jennie is a member of Archer’s Family and Matrimonial Services Group. Jennie represents clients in all aspects of family law, including divorce, custody, support, domestic violence, and adoption. Jennie is a Master member of the Thomas S. Forkin Family Law American Inn of Court and serves as its Treasurer. She is the Chair of the American Inns of Court Program Awards Committee, which reviews continuing legal education programs from across the country. Jennie has previously served a three-year term as a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court District IV Fee Arbitration Committee. She is President of the Camden County Library Commission. Jennie has also served as an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers School of Law in Camden, teaching Family Law Motion Practice and at the Honors College of Rutgers-Camden.

Kate A. Sherlock – Kate helps clients develop and protect their brands by prosecuting trademark applications before the USPTO and litigating opposition and cancellation proceedings before the TTAB. She regularly counsels clients on the right to use and ability to register trademarks, prepares licensing agreements, performs targeted intellectual property due diligence, and handles intellectual property assignment arrangements for clients undergoing significant corporate change. She also drafts and negotiates social media influencer agreements, software licensing and SaaS agreements, and other technology, media, and data-related agreements. As a member of Archer’s Data Privacy Group, Kate helps clients comply with various data privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act and the General Data Protection Regulation.

Eric I. Yun – Eric has a diverse, cross-disciplinary practice encompassing litigation and immigration. As a litigator, Eric has extensive experience in a wide array of commercial and other complex civil litigation matters, including breach of contract actions, shareholder/partnership disputes, fraud and other business tort actions, as well as employment discrimination actions, complex product liability and other high value personal injury and property loss matters. Eric’s practice encompasses all trial-level issues, as well as pre-litigation investigations and negotiations, preventive counseling on contract drafting, regulatory compliance and other related matters, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution proceedings, and appellate matters in both State and Federal courts. Additionally, as part of Archer’s Immigration and Global Mobility team, Eric represents employers and individuals engaged in commerce in the United States, bringing his litigation expertise to bear upon immigration/visa applications and disputes.
