Overview

Stephen chairs Archer’s Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Insolvency Group, and co-chairs its International Law Group and China Practice. Steve has counseled debtors, committees, trustees, foreign representatives and litigants in bankruptcy and commercial litigation proceedings throughout the United States and abroad.

Steve has extensive trial experience. He recently defended complex litigation claims brought in Idaho arising from a catastrophic explosion; litigated contentious Chapter 15 recognition trials in New Jersey and Texas; and prevailed in a trial adverse to the IRS involving tax transfer pricing claims. He has tried cases in federal and state court on issues of fraud, breach of fiduciary duties, breach of contract and complex tort claims.

Steve has been recognized by Chambers USA in the area of Bankruptcy and Restructuring for 19 consecutive years, underscoring his longstanding reputation and experience in the field. He is board certified in business bankruptcy law by the American Board of Certification. Steve is an inaugural Fellow of INSOL and serves on INSOL’s audit committee. He is a member of the Congress of Fellows for the Centre for International Legal Studies and serves on the cross-border committees for the American Bankruptcy Institute and the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees. Steve lectures regularly on insolvency and litigation topics for various organizations.
