Description of the program:
This program will address techniques used in the practice of mediation, and will include 1 1/2 hours of discussion on ethical issues and concerns for mediators and advocates in mediation. Topics will include important issues such as mediator practices, mediator (and advocate) responsibilities to the participants and the court, mediator competence and techniques, lawyer/mediator issues, and lawyer/mediator self-care. The program will conclude with a Question and Answer segment. This program will also meet the continuing education requirement for participation on the roster of mediators.
About the Speaker:
Carl B. Viniar is one of the most active mediators in South Jersey. Mr. Viniar has been a practicing attorney for over 40 years. Mr. Viniar completed mediation training through the Academy of Family Mediators in 1995 and founded the South Jersey Mediation Center. Since then he has mediated with over a thousand couples. He is a member of the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators and is a founding member of the Academy of Professional Family Mediators. Mr. Viniar has mediated and negotiated settlements in the field of family law, as well as real estate, construction partnership disputes, and other fields. He served on the New Jersey Supreme Court CDR committee for the 10 year maximum, and chaired the Family subcommittee for the last two years. He was a member of the New Jersey Court’s Roster of Family Mediators. Mr. Viniar taught Family Mediation, Alternate Dispute resolution, and supervised the civil and family mediation clinics at the Rutgers Camden Law School until his retirement. He continues to teach Negotiation and Conflict Resolution in the PMBA program at the Rutgers Camden School of Business. He has trained hundreds of people to be mediators.
