Salvatore M. DeBunda, a Partner in Archer & Greiner’s Philadelphia office, was recently re-elected to a third three-year term as President of the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (“PTHA”). Mr. DeBunda began his first term as President of the PTHA in 2010 and served a second term, which began in January 2014. He has been a member of the PTHA Board for seven terms as an Owner/Director, First Vice President, and Chairman of the Finance Committee.
The PTHA works hard to protect and provide for the Parx Racing horsemen through the guarantee of live racing, horsemen’s rights, health care and pension for horsemen, benevolence programs, and more. The time Mr. DeBunda has spent as President and on the PTHA Board has been filled with aiding in additional improvements for horsemen, including the negotiation of a new live racing agreement and creation of the Horsemen’s Purchasing Association. Mr. DeBunda also serves as Vice President of the National Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, a member of the Pennsylvania State Horse Racing Commission, and a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Philly Pops.
Mr. DeBunda has a diverse practice that spans a number of industries. He represents many of the firm’s corporate, healthcare and media clients, as well as significant private and family-owned companies, non-profit organizations, and certain horse ownership, racing interest and trade associations. In addition to serving as President of the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, he also serves as the Association’s counsel and was the primary drafter of the horsemen’s sections of the Pennsylvania Slot Bill, signed in July, 2004.
In 1992, Sal founded a television show called, “Let’s Go Racing.” He is currently Executive Producer of the program, which appears weekly on Comcast Sportsnet, a cable television channel serving the Delaware Valley Region.
