Archer is proud to announce that partner and Chief Diversity Officer Lloyd Freeman is among the Philadelphia Business Journal’s 2019 Minority Business Leader Award Honorees. Each year, the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Minority Business Leaders Awards seek to recognize the region’s top minority business leaders based on their past year’s professional accomplishments, community leadership, philanthropy, and awards and milestones.
Over the years, Lloyd has been the driving force behind many of Archer’s diversity programs and initiatives, and has the distinction of being the first person of color to rise through the ranks at Archer from summer associate to partnership status. Lloyd reached a major milestone this year in his appointment to Archer’s new role of Chief Diversity Officer, as well as appointment as Chairman of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
In the last several months, Lloyd’s commitment to his new role, and the impact it has had in his continued mission to ensure that diversity is woven into the fabric of the law firm and profession, has brought recognition to Archer’s diversity and inclusion efforts with Archer recently being honored by the Garden State Bar Association with its 2019 Raymond A. Brown Award, given for the firm’s professional achievements and commitment to the community.
Lloyd has also had a profound impact in the recruitment and hiring of Archer attorneys. He has coordinated the firm’s summer associates program for the last three years, resulting in the most diverse summer associate classes in the firm’s history.
Over the past year and a half, Lloyd has used his influence as a social justice advocate in the cannabis space as well. He is a prominent member of Archer’s formidable team of attorneys who provide guidance on marijuana-related business issues, including strategic planning and transactions, employment law, land use, zoning and municipal law, and healthcare law.
Lloyd was recently named Chairman of the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence Region and is the Immediate Past President of the Garden State Bar Association. Included among awards he has received this year are the National Bar Association Humanitarian Award; New Leaders Council NJ 2019 Trailblazer Award; and the Drexel Black Law Students Association 2019 Champion of Diversity Award.
In his legal practice, Lloyd represents clients in commercial and complex civil litigation in matters involving consumer fraud, real property, franchise, business torts and other issues related to business and contractual disputes.
