Patent Attorney Richard Gilly Joins Archer Law

Archer & Greiner P.C. has announced that Richard Gilly has joined the firm as a Partner in its Intellectual Property Department, where he will chair the Patent Practice group. As a registered patent attorney, Mr. Gilly advises both established and emerging businesses on strategic patent, trademark, and copyright portfolio development. As an intellectual property litigator, he also regularly serves as the lead attorney and lead patent counsel in commercial litigations involving intellectual property rights. Mr. Gilly also advises on licensing, technology and other transactions involving Intellectual Property, as well as the acquisition of patents, trademarks and copyrights. He will be based at the firm’s Philadelphia office.

His roster of representation includes well-known Fortune 100 high-tech firms, as well as prominent companies in energy, green technology, medical devices, computer hardware and software, equipment manufacturing, and gaming and entertainment markets.

As in-house counsel for a Fortune 100 company, Mr. Gilly regularly negotiated agreements for research, development, supply and manufacturing, including associated intellectual property rights, and advised executives on compliance with international transaction regulations, export controls, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Mr. Gilly is a sought-after author and lecturer. His articles on emerging legal and compliance issues have been published in the BNA Insights White Collar Crime Report, the BNA Journal of Patents, Trademarks and Copyrights, the Intellectual Property & Technology Law Journal, IP Law360, and Bloomberg’s IP Law Report.

A frequent speaker before industry and professional organizations, he was the A. I. Mahan Lecturer at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory Colloquium, speaking on “Weathering the Storm: Patents in the Cloud.” Mr. Gilly is an active member of the Software Patent Committee for the International Federation of IP Attorneys (FICPI), where he has spoken and advised on current U.S. software patent litigation issues and global IP protection.

Mr. Gilly is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), the International Federation of IP Attorneys and its International Software Patent Committee, and the American Bar Association’s International Law and Intellectual Property sections.

Mr. Gilly earned his Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School. He received his undergraduate degree from Yale University.
