Archer partner and Chief Diversity Officer Lloyd Freeman has been named to the newly-formed New Jersey State Bar Association Commission on Racial Equity in the Law. The Commission will convene leaders in the legal profession to take an incisive study of the legal system and identify methods to address root causes of racial inequities in the profession and in the law. The Commission will also look specifically at ongoing anti-Black racism in the legal system and in the practice of law. The goal for the Commission’s work will be to provide recommendations and specific policy and rule proposals that promote education, a more robust pipeline for young attorneys, and a more just system overall.
As Chief Diversity Officer, Lloyd carries out Archer’s vision to grow diversity and inclusion in the firm and in the legal profession. Lloyd spearheads the firm’s diversity committee and is a member of Archer’s hiring, personnel and business development committees. Known for energetic and prolific community service, Lloyd has touched hundreds of lives through personal service and institutional support of mentoring organizations and supporting first-generation and minority students, as well as governing service organizations such as United Way, American Red Cross, and Big Brothers Big Sisters, where he currently serves as Chair of the Governing Board of the Independence Region.
Lloyd concentrates his practice in the area of commercial and complex civil litigation in state and federal courts in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He has represented clients in trials, arbitration, and mediation in both states and has developed expertise in e-discovery.
