Kerri Chewning Sworn in as President of the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey

Archer partner Kerri E. Chewning was installed as the President of the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey (“AFBNJ”). The swearing-in occurred during a virtual ceremony on June 11, 2020.  Judge Garrett E. Brown, Jr., retired Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, administered the oath to Kerri as the Association’s new President. Kerri is only the sixth woman to hold the position. A member of the AFBNJ since 2011, Kerri has served on the Executive Committee for the last five years.

The AFBNJ is the preeminent bar association for the federal court practitioners in New Jersey, launched by distinguished attorneys and leaders of the bar in recognition of the need for judges, attorneys in the private bar, and federal law enforcement attorneys to be able to work together.  Now in its 48th year, the AFBNJ is proud to be the voice of the federal bar in New Jersey, a district with distinguished judges and lawyers, who freely and courteously share their views on matters of federal practice.

Kerri is a trial attorney whose practice has been devoted to the defense of class actions in both state and federal court. She has twenty years of experience leading litigation cases from inception through to trial, including defense of complex commercial claims, civil rights claims, unfair competition and Lanham Act claims, and white collar defense. Kerri serves as a co-editor and author for the annual New Jersey Federal Civil Procedure publication. She is also a frequent presenter for CLE programs in the areas of Federal Practice, E-Discovery, Ethics & Professionalism.
