Kerri E. Chewning, a Partner in Archer & Greiner’s Haddonfield office, served as co-editor for the recently published, New Jersey Federal Civil Procedure, an annual publication of the New Jersey Law Journal. The book, newly revised for 2017, is part of every Chambers in the District and in the Third Circuit. This edition of the publication introduces practitioners to the significant changes to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure that became effective on December 1, 2015, including changes impacting the proportionality analysis, discovery requests, and sanctions applicable to e-discovery.
The 2017 edition also includes updates on the latest case law developments affecting all aspects of practice in the District of New Jersey, featuring updates on jurisdiction, motions to seal, and removal.
This is the third year Ms. Chewning worked as a co-editor for the publication. Along with her distinction as co-editor, she also authored the chapter on “Complaints” and has done so for the past six years.
Ms. Chewning is a trial attorney in the firm’s Litigation Practice where she serves as the Assistant Group Chair for the Intellectual Property Group and serves on the Archer Discovery Strategies Committee. She practices in the area of complex commercial litigation in the federal and state courts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and before the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. Her practice focuses primarily on intellectual property litigation and the defense of class actions. Ms. Chewning also handles the defense of civil rights claims. She currently serves as a member of the Lawyers Advisory Committee for the District of New Jersey, and the Secretary for the Association of the Federal Bar of New Jersey. She is also a past Chair of the Federal Practice and Procedure Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
Ms. Chewning was named a Rising Star in class action litigation by New Jersey Magazine each year for 2008 through 2015. She frequently speaks on topics relating to federal practice, e-discovery, ethics and professionalism.
