John Connell Named Haddonfield Citizen of the Year

John C. Connell, a Shareholder/Partner in Archer’s headquarters in Haddonfield, N.J., was honored with the 2013 Haddonfield Citizen of the Year Award at the annual Mayor’s Breakfast, sponsored by the Haddonfield Lion’s Club.

Mr. Connell, a longtime Haddonfield resident, was presented with the award by Haddonfield Mayor Letitia “Tish” Colombi at the event on Jan. 19, 2013.

“John has been a very hard worker in our borough for a number of years,” the mayor said. “He has held many different positions, most of those with titles like President, Vice President and Chairman.”

Mayor Colombi noted in particular Mr. Connell’s service as longtime Chair of the Haddonfield Municipal Alliance, local affiliate of the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse, which sponsors and supports activities and events that promote a healthy lifestyle, responsible decisions, and a culture of wellness. His extensive civic involvement also includes serving as former Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Camden County Chapter of the American Red Cross, former Chair of the Board of Trustees of Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Camden Center for Law and Social Justice, Past President and Board Director of the Rotary Club of Camden City, Nominations Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Camden County College Foundation, former President of the Haddonfield Civic Association, and former Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Haddonfield Foundation.

“It means a lot,” Mr. Connell said of the award, “especially given the caliber of the people who have won this award in the past. It’s very humbling to receive this, and I’m deeply grateful to the community.”

The Lion’s Club solicits nominations from the community and facilitates selection of Haddonfield’s Citizen of the Year, who is announced each year at the Mayor’s Breakfast.
