Jeffrey M. Gradone, a Partner in the Princeton, N.J., office of Archer P.C., has been selected to receive the 2011 Distinguished Legislative Service Award from the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA).
The award is “the highest recognition available to an NJSBA member to acknowledge noteworthy legislative service,” NJSBA President Susan A. Feeney stated in a letter to Mr. Gradone, which also notes Mr. Gradone’s “extraordinary commitment to NJSBA’s legislative goals…”
“The NJSBA Board of Trustees has determined that you have made superior efforts to fulfill the State Bar Association’s stated mission,” of developing and advancing the Bar’s position on legislation that affects the law, the legal profession and the legal system, Ms. Feeney wrote.
Mr. Gradone, Co-Chair of the NJSBA Property Tax Committee and an Executive Committee member of the Tax Law Section, played a key role in developing the NJSBA’s positions on several bills relating to property tax assessment and the appeals process. In addition to developing the positions, Mr. Gradone attended meetings with legislators and NJSBA representatives to discuss the Association’s concerns about the bills.
“Your efforts in this regard have greatly assisted the property tax appeal bar,” Ms. Feeney stated.
Mr. Gradone prosecutes complex property tax appeals in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and other Mid-Atlantic and New England states. He advises clients regarding property tax issues and liabilities, and pursues property tax exemptions, abatements, and other incentives for real estate development projects. Mr. Gradone also handles a variety of complex condemnation matters on behalf of property owners and lenders.
