In Memoriam: Charles W. Heuisler

September 10, 2023

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our colleague and friend, Charles W. Heuisler, on September 10, 2023. Charles joined Archer & Greiner in 1967 and spent his more than five-decades long career with the firm. A member of Archer’s business litigation, estate litigation, and construction litigation groups, Charles had numerous reported appellate opinions. He also served for nearly 40 years as General Counsel of Symphony in C, based in Camden, NJ. He acted as counsel during their transition from a community orchestra to one of three acclaimed teaching orchestras in the United States. He helped guide the organization through a transition not only in its mission, but its relocation to the City of Camden.

Charles was a highly respected and warmly admired attorney, known for his astute legal mind and his great integrity. He was a former certified civil trial attorney as designated by the New Jersey Supreme Court Board on Attorney Certification. He also served as secretary to the District IV Ethics Committee from 1975 to 1980, and after as a member of the committee from 1983 through 1986.

Within the legal industry, Charles served as a Trustee of the New Jersey State Bar Association from 1989-1993, where he was a member and former chair of the Equity Jurisprudence Section, member of the Amicus Committee, and a founding member of the Lawyer Assistance Committee. Charles was honored by the New Jersey State Bar Association for all of his outstanding contributions, receiving their Distinguished Legislative Service Award, which is the Association’s highest recognition. He was also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, American Bar Association, and Camden County Bar Association.

Active in our regional community, Charles was a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Camden, NJ, past chair of the South Jersey Performing Arts Center, and a former board member for the Steininger Center in Camden, NJ.

Charles earned his law degree at Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts degree at College of the Holy Cross.

As felt by so many, it was an honor and privilege to know and work with Charles. He was a talented attorney, a trusted colleague, and a good friend to all, and he will be greatly missed by everyone at the firm.
