Many people make the mistake of believing that if they have created a proper will, power of attorney and an advance directive for healthcare, they have satisfied their estate planning needs. These are the basic requirements, but they must be supplemented with appropriate retirement planning, if applicable, since a significant portion of many client’s assets, their tax deferred retirement accounts—traditional IRA’s, 401(k)’s and 403(b)’s—are not covered by their wills.

Melissa Osorio Dibble Appointed to ACTEC Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity Committee
Archer partner, Melissa Osorio Dibble, was recently appointed to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity Committee of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). She will serve a 3-year term. Earlier this year, Melissa was elected by the Board of Regents of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel as a Fellow.

Meghan Rice and Eric Sorkin Join Archer
Archer is pleased to welcome associates Meghan L. Rice and Eric B. Sorkin to the firm. A member of the estate & trust litigation group, Meghan handles litigation involving probate matters, estates, trusts, gifts, fiduciaries, guardianships, and real estate. She is a member of the Burlington County Bar Association Foundation Board of Trustees, as well as a member of the Burlington County Bar Association Young Lawyers Committee. Following law school, Meghan served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable J. Christopher Gibson, Cape May County Superior Court, Civil Division. She received her J.D. from Drexel University's Thomas R. Kline School of Law. Eric is a member of the firm’s estates & trusts group, where he represents clients in all aspects of estate, trust, and related tax matters, including planning for both simple and complex estates, and probate litigation. He is a member of the Mercer County Estate Planning Council. Eric served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Patrick DeAlmedia, Presiding Judge of the New Jersey Tax Court. He received his J.D. from Rutgers Law School, his M.B.A. from Villanova University, and an L.L.M in taxation from New York University.

Archer attorney, Matthew Nicodemo, was recently invited and approved as a panelist to the Essex County Early Settlement Panel for Probate matters. Panelists assist the court by mediating contested probate matters, including estate, trust, and guardianship cases. The panel is comprised of experienced estate, trust, and elder law attorneys who are specially selected by the Chancery Judges in Essex County, New Jersey based on reputation, quality of work, and experience.
