Recently, however, New Jersey adopted “Ban the Box” legislation which puts some very important restrictions on when and how you can ask about criminal backgrounds, including a prohibition on any question about criminal history on an initial employment application. Employers must comply with this law effective March 1, 2015.

This presentation will provide you with the information you need to evaluate whether your current policies and practices are legal in New Jersey, as well as the do’s and don’ts for safely using criminal records in employment.
