Steven K. Mignogna Presented at 27th Annual Spring Symposia of American Bar Association’s Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section

Steven K. Mignogna, Chair of the Estate & Trust Litigation Group at Archer in Haddonfield, N.J., presented a program on exculpatory clauses, at the 27th Anniversary of the Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Spring Symposia of the American Bar Association.

The Symposia took place on April 30 – May 1, 2015, in Capital Hilton, Washington, DC.  The Symposia involves trust and estate lawyers throughout the United States convening to discuss trends and new developments.

On April 30^th, Mr. Mignogna acted as Program Chair and Speaker for the hour program titled “The Use and Abuse of Exculpatory Clauses.” The program surveyed the history and current trends of exculpatory clauses in wills and trusts, both within the United States and outside our country. He also moderated a program titled, “Letters, Notes and Napkins: Harmless Error and Writings Intended as Wills.” Anthony R. La Ratta, a Partner in Archer’s Haddonfield office, was also a part of this curriculum, serving as Program Chair and Speaker. The program addressed the increasing consideration by courts around the country of writings intended as wills and the substantial compliance doctrine – the effect to give wills that do not comply with traditional standards.

On May 1^st, Mr. Mignogna moderated a program entitled: “Go Where No Ethics Have Gone Before - Staying on the Right Course in an Expanding Universe of Technology.” This program addressed the ethical issues which are arising more frequently in technology as used in trust and estate litigation.
