Carlton Johnson Elected First Vice President of Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia

Attorney Carlton L. Johnson has been elected First Vice President of Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia, the city-based chapter of the international nonprofit housing rehabilitation organization.

Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, the largest non-profit homebuilder worldwide. Founded in 1985, Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia has completed nearly 150 homes to date. Partner families are required to contribute 350 hours of “sweat equity” in building their houses and others in order to qualify for the no-interest mortgage provided by Habitat.

The former head of the Civil Rights Unit of the City of Philadelphia Law Department, Mr. Johnson serves as Co-Chair of Archer’s Government Affairs and Civil Rights Practice Groups. His more than 25 years of experience includes managing, supervising and resolving problematic and challenging litigation, including numerous class actions. Mr. Johnson provides government relations services to some of the region’s largest companies, which benefit from his longstanding relationships with and credibility among high-ranking leaders in the Philadelphia community.

A graduate of the Temple University Beasley School of Law, Mr. Johnson played a pivotal role in a groundbreaking initiative Archer launched this year: the Archer-Temple Law-City of Philadelphia Diversity Scholarship Program. In addition to providing financial assistance to minority students at Temple Law, the program includes the opportunity for scholarship recipients to work as paid summer associates at Archer and at the City of Philadelphia Law Department.

Mr. Johnson is a Partner in the Philadelphia office of Archer, P.C. He serves as Co-Chair of Archer’s Civil Rights and Government Relations practice groups. A Philadelphia resident and former head of the Civil Rights Unit of the City of Philadelphia Law Department, Mr. Johnson concentrates his practice in civil rights law, government relations and employment law.
