Archer President Christopher R. Gibson has been named to South Jersey Biz’s “Power 50” List, which is the publication’s list of annual picks for the movers and shakers who influence how business is done in South Jersey. Chris is among a list that includes politicians, presidents, CEOs, senior staff, doctors, and directors who embrace their positions and make South Jersey a better place. During his over 30 years in practice, Chris has litigated and tried a variety of commercial, employment, construction, toxic tort and product liability cases seeking personal injuries and property claims, but he is best known as one of New Jersey’s leading environmental litigators.
On his entrance to the legal industry, Chris told the publication, “My mentors, Ed Laird and George Kugler, gave me a remarkable amount of hands-on experience early in my career. By allowing me to participate extensively in depositions, trials and oral arguments, and providing me with a lot of insight about running a law firm, they helped shape me into the attorney I am today.”
Chris has successfully tried multiple cases involving hundreds of millions of dollars in response costs or natural resource damage claims on behalf of many large chemical and petroleum companies. He also currently represents several large corporations in cases that have been brought by the State of New Jersey seeking natural resource damages. Chris acts as local and regional counsel to nationally and regionally known corporations, and also represents and advises smaller and mid-size local businesses in various commercial litigation, employment and environmental matters, as well as represents many governmental clients.
