Bill Caruso Lands No. 4 Spot on NJBIZ Law Power 50 List

NJBIZ released its 2022 Law Power 50 List today, which includes Archer partner Bill Caruso in the number 4 spot. The Law Power 50 List is a ranking of the most influential attorneys in private practice, public service, corporate law departments and nonprofit organizations in New Jersey. This well-deserved honor is a tribute to Bill who remains one of the leading advocates and influencers for the cannabis industry, and an influential voice in New Jersey’s long battle to end cannabis prohibition.

NJBIZ said this about Bill, “Few cannabis attorneys in New Jersey are as high profile as Caruso, who’s been an avid lobbyist for the space since way, way before it was the hot new area of practice . . . He’s had a hand in shaping every one of New Jersey’s cannabis laws, from the statute legalizing medical cannabis in 2010 to the decriminalization and adult use bills signed in February 2021 . . . Caruso will remain an active player in the cannabis ecosystem, from guiding clients to lobbying politicians.”

Bill chairs Archer’s Cannabis Group and serves as managing director of Archer Public Affairs. He is also a co-founder of New Jersey United for Marijuana Reform, a group that laid the groundwork for the legalization movement. He was also a leader with the advocacy group, NJ CAN 2020, that spearheaded the November 2020 ballot initiative to legalize cannabis for personal use.

In his practice, Bill represents clients that are both veterans and new leaders in the medical and adult-use cannabis industries, including retailers, processors, growers and ancillary businesses. Bill provides guidance on marijuana-related business issues, including issues pertaining to strategic planning and transactions, banking and finance, taxation, labor and employment, land use and zoning, real estate, municipal law, and healthcare law.
