Archer Welcomes Two New Associates

Archer is pleased to welcome two new associates to the firm. Shamila Ahmed joins the firm’s Business Counseling Group in the Hackensack office. Ashley Rotchford joins the firm’s Immigration and Global Mobility Group in the Haddonfield office.

Shamila R. Ahmed is a member of Archer’s Business Counseling Group, where she represents a wide range of clients in a variety of corporate matters, including entity formation and dissolution, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, financing and commercial transactions.

Counseling both large and small businesses on issues which arise in their daily operations, Shamila regularly assists clients in the preparation, review and negotiation of contracts, including corporate governance documents, such as bylaws, operating agreements, shareholder agreements and resolutions/consents, as well as the preparation of master services agreements and non-disclosure agreements, among others. Shamila assists clients in various corporate transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, asset purchases, stock purchases, membership interest purchases, joint ventures and business dissolutions.

Prior to joining Archer, Shamila was an associate in a Manhattan-based law firm focused on business, entertainment, employment and dispute resolution. While in law school, Shamila served as a student attorney for the Trademark Clinic of New York Law School Legal Services, Inc.

Ashley Q. Rotchford is a member of Archer’s Immigration & Global Mobility Group, where she represents employers in all of their immigration needs. Ashley counsels clients on myriad immigration issues, including regulatory and statutory compliance. She routinely handles matters with a number of different government agencies, such as the Department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Department of Labor, and the Department of State. She advises legal and human resources departments on immigration compliance, implementation of immigration policies, and management of visa options for current and potential candidates. Ashley drafts and files immigration petitions with USCIS and consulates, including, but not limited to: H-1B, O-1, EB-1, EB-2/EB-3, L-1, Marriage-Based Green Cards, responses to Requests for Evidence, and Adjustments of Status, as well as dependent and derivative filings. In addition, Ashley utilizes her expertise for the PERM-based Green Card process to counsel clients on formulating best PERM practices and advising on the drafting of minimum recruitments, as well as the remainder of the PERM process.

Prior to joining Archer, Ashley was an associate in the Immigration department of a Mid-Atlantic regional Top 200 law firm. Following law school, Ashley served as a law clerk to the Honorable Steven J. Polansky P.J.Cv., New Jersey Judiciary, Camden, NJ.

While in law school, Ashley served as Staff Editor and then Articles Editor for the Temple Law Review. She was a Law & Public Policy Scholar and an Institute for International Law and Public Policy Fellow. Ashley also served as Co-President of the National Lawyers Guild and Co-Chair of the Immigration and Human Rights Committee.
