Archer Signs on to Mansfield Rule 6.0
Archer is excited to commit to the latest version of the national initiative, which aims to increase diversity in law firm leadership.
Voorhees, NJ – Archer, one of the largest full-service New Jersey law firms, announced its renewed commitment Tuesday to achieving the latest version of the Mansfield certification by continuing to broaden the diverse pool of lawyers that it considers for top leadership and governance roles.
Archer was one of more than 180 firms to sign onto Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Rule 6.0 certification process, which lays out the most stringent parameters to date for increasing diversity at law firms across the country. Under these new requirements, Archer must affirmatively consider at least 30% women, LGBTQ+ attorneys, lawyers with disabilities and lawyers of color for leadership and C-suite roles, as well as a dozen other positions that offer a path to firm leadership.
Archer first achieved Mansfield certification in 2020, when the initiative was in its third iteration. Since then, the annual requirements have become increasingly rigorous, to reflect the findings of previous efforts. In addition to the 30% rule, Archer has committed to meeting routine check-in, data-collection and reporting milestones.
“We are very proud to participate once again in this robust Mansfield certification process,” said Shelley Smith, Archer Partner and Chief of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. “Archer has a longstanding commitment to ensuring that diversity is a top-of-mind focus as we continue to create a workplace environment that embraces a variety of perspectives and cultures.”
“The Mansfield certification process has provided Archer with a robust framework to advance our important efforts aimed at fostering a culture of inclusion at the firm,” said Archer President Christopher Gibson. “Through our participation in the Mansfield 6.0 certification class, we remain dedicated to these important issues and to increasing the number of women and diverse attorneys in leadership roles within the firm.”
