Lynne M. Abraham, a Shareholder in Archer Law, P.C.’s Philadelphia Office, recently received CHILD USA’s Trailblazer Award for her groundbreaking work in the investigation and prosecution of sexual abuse. The award was presented to Ms. Abraham at CHILD USA’s first annual awards celebration in Philadelphia on November 16.
In naming her to its inaugural group of “Trailblazers,” CHILD USA lauded Ms. Abraham’s five-year Grand Jury Investigation and Report of Catholic Clergy Sexual Abuse, which has been both read and emulated throughout the country.
“Lynne truly is a trailblazer in so many respects. She continues to work tirelessly as an advocate for children, and her recognition by CHILD USA for bringing attention to the issue of child sexual abuse is very well deserved,” said Jeffrey M. Kolansky, co-managing partner of Archer’s Philadelphia Office.
Ms. Abraham focuses her practice on business litigation and estates and trusts. She also focuses on government relations, mediation, litigation and trial strategy and tactics, as well as appellate advocacy. Ms. Abraham joined Archer Law, P.C. following a distinguished career in public service that included an 18-year tenure as Philadelphia District Attorney. Ms. Abraham was the first woman to serve as the city’s D.A., and her tenure is the longest in modern city history. As leader of largest prosecutor’s office in Pennsylvania and one of the largest in the nation, Ms. Abraham forged a reputation as a tough, effective and compassionate protector of public safety for more than 1.5 million citizens of the City and County of Philadelphia.
Before becoming District Attorney, Ms. Abraham served as a Philadelphia Common Pleas judge, Philadelphia Municipal Court judge, legislative consultant for the Philadelphia City Council, and executive director of the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority. Since joining Archer, Ms. Abraham has continued her groundbreaking work in the private sector, promoting legislative initiatives aimed at preventing gun violence and curbing the activities of Internet sexual predators, among other issues.
CHILD USA seeks to end child abuse and neglect through evidence-based research resulting in enlightened law and public policy. It is the first research-based think tank on child abuse and neglect, conducting research, compiling evidence, promoting ideas and proposing the most effective prevention policies.
