Archer & Greiner is excited to announce the 20th anniversary of its Diversity Programs. To commemorate two decades of fostering diversity and inclusion throughout the firm, Archer is hosting a celebratory event on July 18, at Three Logan Square, 1717 Arch Street. Among the attendees will be Archer diversity scholarship recipients from the last 20 years.
Archer’s diversity initiatives involve attorneys at the highest levels of firm management and include recruitment, retention and mentoring programs designed to enhance career opportunities for minority and female attorneys. Each year, the firm provides tuition support and summer associate employment to diverse law students from Temple and Rutgers. Additionally, the firm participates in the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group (“PDLG”) and hosts a Diversity Corporate Share Program in partnership with ExxonMobil, Panasonic Corporation of North America, the Hershey Company and AmerisourceBergen. Many of the diversity scholars have been first-year law students, have overcome obstacles in pursuing a legal career, or come from disadvantaged or underrepresented backgrounds. In sum, Archer has supported 47 diversity scholars and awarded over $465,000 in diversity scholarships.
Now a partner and Archer’s Chief Diversity Officer, Lloyd Freeman received a diversity scholarship while attending law school and soon became the first person of color to rise through the ranks from summer associate to partner. With his direct involvement in both the summer associate and attorney sides of the program, Lloyd is excited for the next 20 years of Archer’s continued mission to ensure that diversity is woven into the fabric of the law firm and profession.
“This program has become a defining aspect of my career,” says Freeman. “From receiving a diversity scholarship during law school to now being the Chair of the Diversity Committee, I’ve been able to promote diversity and inclusion within the legal profession in numerous ways. I am proud of the firm for its longstanding commitment to increasing the representation historically underrepresented groups in the practice of law.” To learn more about Archer’s diversity and inclusion initiative, please visit https://www.archerlaw.com/firm/diversity-initiative/
