Family & Matrimonial Services

The Matrimonial Department has established a statewide reputation for excellence in all areas of matrimonial law, including divorce, equitable distribution, division of business interests, division of retirement assets, tax issues, child support issues, issues concerning custody and parenting time, domestic violence, enforcement of prior orders, premarital agreements, and adoption. The Department has also established a reputation for providing caring, timely, responsive, yet aggressive representation in this most sensitive area of the law. Our attorneys believe that achieving settlements is desirable, while still recognizing the importance of being prepared, willing and able to seek judicial intervention. Department members have also been qualified as divorce mediators by the Academy of Family Mediators. Additionally, the Department draws upon the many resources of our Firm as issues arise in family law matters related to real estate, tax, corporate and other areas of the law.

For years, Department members have been at the forefront of the development of procedural and substantive family law. They have served as the chair of the Family Law Committee of the Camden County Bar and the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. They have been editors of and contributors to the New Jersey Family Lawyer, including editor-in-chief. Department attorneys have also served on the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association and on the New Jersey Supreme Court Family Part Practice Committee, the Committee which monitors the administration of family law for the New Jersey Supreme Court. One Department attorney chaired a New Jersey Supreme Court Work Group on Matrimonial Early Settlement Programs. Finally, the Department Chairman served as Co-Chair of the New Jersey Supreme Court Special Committee on Matrimonial Litigation that, in 1998, authored a far-reaching report recommending substantial revisions to matrimonial practice and which, in large measure, has been adopted by the New Jersey Supreme Court.
