David Edelstein Appointed to Volunteer UP Legal Clinic Advisory Board
Archer partner, David F. Edelstein, was recently appointed to the Advisory Board of Volunteer UP Legal Clinic (“Volunteer UP”). A New Jersey Supreme Court certified pro bono organization, Volunteer UP partners with volunteer attorneys to provide high-quality free legal services not otherwise available to those in need. The Advisory Board is comprised of attorneys dedicated to mobilizing their colleagues in the private sector to provide pro bono legal services for critically underserved members of the South Jersey community.

Kerri Chewning Reappointed to Federal Court Advisory Committee
Archer partner, Kerri E. Chewning, has been reappointed to the Lawyers Advisory Committee of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Kerri has served as a Committee member since 2010. She was reappointed by Chief U.S. District Judge Renée Marie Bumb to another one-year term running through January 31, 2025.

Melissa Osorio Dibble Appointed to ACTEC Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity Committee
Archer partner, Melissa Osorio Dibble, was recently appointed to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity Committee of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). She will serve a 3-year term. Earlier this year, Melissa was elected by the Board of Regents of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel as a Fellow.

Carlos Bollar Honored by Rutgers Law School – Camden Alumni Association
Carlos M. Bollar was honored by the Rutgers School of Law-Camden Alumni Association with the 2023 Arthur E. Armitage Sr. Distinguished Alumni Award. The Armitage Award recognizes Rutgers Law School’s most accomplished graduates. The award was established in 1983 in memory of Armitage, who, with a group of interested citizens, founded both the South Jersey Law School in 1926 and its companion College of South Jersey in 1927. Carlos received the award at the school’s Annual Gov. James J. Florio Scholarship Benefit and Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony, held November 9 at the Merion in Cinnaminson. One of the leading environmental attorneys in New Jersey, Carlos represents clients in complex toxic tort, product liability and environmental litigation matters. He handles environmental litigation cases in all of the contexts in which they arise, including single plaintiff cases, mass actions involving hundreds of plaintiffs, class actions, and defending clients against state and federal government. Carlos regularly handles high stakes litigation with massive potential damages. Carlos has been a champion of diversity and inclusion in the legal profession throughout his career, serving as a past president of both the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) and the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey (HBA-NJ). Carlos also serves on the Board of Trustees for the New Jersey State Bar Association. Alexis Batten Receives 2023 CMCBA Professionalism Award

Meghan Rice and Eric Sorkin Join Archer
Archer is pleased to welcome associates Meghan L. Rice and Eric B. Sorkin to the firm. A member of the estate & trust litigation group, Meghan handles litigation involving probate matters, estates, trusts, gifts, fiduciaries, guardianships, and real estate. She is a member of the Burlington County Bar Association Foundation Board of Trustees, as well as a member of the Burlington County Bar Association Young Lawyers Committee. Following law school, Meghan served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable J. Christopher Gibson, Cape May County Superior Court, Civil Division. She received her J.D. from Drexel University's Thomas R. Kline School of Law. Eric is a member of the firm’s estates & trusts group, where he represents clients in all aspects of estate, trust, and related tax matters, including planning for both simple and complex estates, and probate litigation. He is a member of the Mercer County Estate Planning Council. Eric served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Patrick DeAlmedia, Presiding Judge of the New Jersey Tax Court. He received his J.D. from Rutgers Law School, his M.B.A. from Villanova University, and an L.L.M in taxation from New York University.

Matthew Nicodemo to Sit on Essex County Early Settlement Panel for Probate Matters
Archer attorney, Matthew Nicodemo, was recently invited and approved as a panelist to the Essex County Early Settlement Panel for Probate matters. Panelists assist the court by mediating contested probate matters, including estate, trust, and guardianship cases. The panel is comprised of experienced estate, trust, and elder law attorneys who are specially selected by the Chancery Judges in Essex County, New Jersey based on reputation, quality of work, and experience.
