Biography:

BOB EGAN concentrates his practice in commercial litigation in the state and federal courts in New Jersey and in other jurisdictions. He has significant experience in complex litigation involving intellectual property, copyright, trademark, infringement, trade secrets, restrictive employment covenants, franchise, anti-trust and trade regulation, computer and high technology, commercial, contract, and class action issues, as well as in cases involving securities, corporate governance, shareholder and partner disputes.

For many years, Bob has handled cases in several states that involve complex legal issues, a substantial volume of documents and electronically stored information, and significant amounts in controversy, with some cases involving claims in excess of $100,000,000. Over the past decade, Bob has represented clients in the computer, high technology and telecommunications industries in litigation involving a wide range of issues, including contract, antitrust and intellectual property issues.
Examples include:

* serving as lead counsel for a Fortune 500 provider of enterprise communications systems in a series of antitrust and intellectual property cases
* serving as counsel for clients involved in number of technology-related disputes, including those arising from technology development contracts and arrangements and technology product performance issues
* serving as lead counsel for many years in several class action cases in the state and federal courts, defending products liability, fraud and RICO claims involving building products
* serving as lead counsel in over fifty cases involving claims of trade secret infringement or violations of non-competition agreements and confidentiality agreements
* serving as counsel in several cases involving internal disputes among owners of multi-million dollar business

As a result of his involvement in complex litigation, Bob is well-versed in automated litigation support systems and the latest e-discovery technology and legal developments. Working with our clients, he has designed and implemented computerized systems to manage litigation-related documents and information. He has also trained and supervised attorney and paralegal personnel in document and information management techniques. He remains in the forefront of the firm's automation efforts, working with our information systems personnel to find and devise new ways to improve the efficient handling of litigated matters.

In addition to handling complex litigation, Bob has litigated more routine commercial disputes in a wide range of substantive areas. He co-chairs the Firm's Employment Competition and Information Protection Group, which focuses on issues that arise from the potential and actual defection of employees to competitors, including non-competition, non-solicitation and non-disclosure issues, as well as matters concerning duty of loyalty, piracy, recruitment, trade secret and information security, and other business torts. Bob is also the Chair Emeritus of the Firm's Intellectual Property Group, and handles many of the Firm's Intellectual Property litigation matters.

Bob has served as an adjunct lecturer in Pretrial Advocacy at the Rutgers School of Law - Camden, and as a member of the Camden County Bar Association's Federal Bench/Bar Committee. He has also served as the Chairman of the CCBA's Complimentary Dispute Resolution Committee, with primary responsibility for developing a pilot program, approved by the New Jersey Supreme Court, to integrate non-binding alternative dispute resolution techniques into civil case management in the state courts. Bob has also served on the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Complimentary Dispute Resolution.
