Biography:

PATRICK M. FLYNN concentrates his practice in environmental and appellate litigation in state and federal courts.

Patrick has significant experience in handling cases involving cost recovery or contribution claims under the federal Superfund law (CERCLA) and state environmental cleanup laws, as well as other common law and statutory issues arising in the environmental context. Examples include:

* assisting lead counsel in the federal court trial of a multi-million dollar CERCLA contribution action arising out of the cleanup of the Lipari Landfill in Southern New Jersey
* defending clients in several large, multi-party toxic tort suits in state courts
* prosecuting a federal action in Texas to enforce an indemnification agreement covering the cost of environmental cleanup of commercial property

Through his involvement in complex litigation, Patrick has gained substantial experience managing multi-party discovery and handling all facets of motion practice in state and federal courts. Patrick is also well-versed in the use of computer resources for research, document and information management, and courtroom presentations.

In addition to handling environmental litigation matters, Patrick has prosecuted and defended appeals for our clients in a wide variety of substantive areas, including: First Amendment issues, insurance coverage, commercial contracts, medical licensing, confiscation of firearms, personal jurisdiction, and state pension eligibility. Patrick has obtained reversals of lower court decisions in two cases that have given rise to published opinions establishing precedent in New Jersey:

Pop's Cones, Inc. v. Resorts Int'l Hotel, Inc., 307 N.J. Super. 461 (App. Div. 1998);

State v. One Marlin Rifle, 319 N.J. Super. 359 (App. Div. 1999).

Patrick has been an attorney with Archer & Greiner since 1996. He earned his law degree with High Honors from Rutgers University School of Law - Newark in 1995. He recevied a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science with Honors from Rutgers College in 1992.

While attending Rutgers University School of Law - Newark, Patrick served as Articles Editor for the Rutgers Law Review. His article "Government Recovery of Superfund Cleanup Oversight Costs: A Critique of United States v. Rohm & Haas Co." was published in the Winter 1995 edition of the Rutgers Law Review. Patrick was selected to the prestigious Order of the Coif, and also received the Hunterdon County Bar Association Award and Scholarship.

Prior to joining Archer & Greiner, Patrick served as Law Clerk to the Honorable David Landau, Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division.
