Mr. Schonhaut has been designated a “Super Lawyer” every year since 2005, by NJ Monthly Magazine.
   
Biography:

Since 1980 NEAL SCHONHAUT has handled cases in both the State Courts and Federal Courts involving significant personal injuries, whether caused by harassment, job termination, medical malpractice, or various types of accidents which cause significant injury to life and property. Examples include:

* Obtained a $2.4 million settlement against 2 hospitals and numerous doctors, involving the failure to diagnose meningitis. The failure to timely diagnose the infection led to the death of a mother of 2 children.
* Obtained a $4.6 million verdict in medical malpractice case. Neal represented the estate of a woman who suffered complications from anesthesia during surgery. After years of living with paralysis, she died.
* Obtained a $5.5 million settlement of wrongful death action. Neal represented a widow and her four children who lost their husband and father as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
* Obtained a $7.0 million settlement on behalf of a woman injured, as a result of dental malpractice, which caused Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (RSD).
* Obtained a $2.75 million settlement of medical malpractice action causing cerebral palsy suffered as a result of anoxia during birth
* Obtained a $1.75 million settlement of the wrongful death of a Postal Worker who presented with significant pain, which was misdiagnosed as a muscle strain and was in fact an infection.


In the area of Employment Discrimination, Neal defends Universities and Fortune 100 and 500 companies in the areas of harassment and discrimination based on age, gender, national origin and disabilities.

Neal began his career in 1979, in the New Jersey Attorney General's office, he has been invited back in past years to provide seminars to new Deputy Attorney Generals and has also received specially assigned cases, as outside counsel from the Attorney General's office for more than 15 years.

Since 1984, he has served as General Counsel to the New Jersey School Boards Association Insurance Group, which is a self-insurance company representing more than 200 New Jersey Boards of Education. In that capacity, he oversees outside counsel's litigation throughout the State of New Jersey and represents his Group in any contract disputes regarding insurance coverage that occurs between the Group and member Boards of Education.
